AI & Technology
Ages 9–12. Help your child understand what AI can do, why it can be wrong and how to use technology more carefully. 48 live online classes · Teacher-led · Small groups of up to 5.
About this program
Children already meet AI in apps, search and videos. This program helps them understand it in simple terms and use it carefully. Over 48 live classes they learn how AI uses examples to find patterns, try giving clear instructions, check whether an answer is correct and decide when to use AI and when not to. Some activities use real tools with a teacher present. Others use paper and pretend tools. No coding experience is needed. The skills connect to school research, to checking what they find online and to making sensible choices with technology at home.
What children practise
- Give clear instructions
- Check an answer
- Think step by step
- Protect private information
Explore what your child will learn
Ages 9–10, 11–12. Pick your child’s age. Modules are shown in no fixed order, and class counts are planned numbers.
- AI Fundamentals (8 classes): Explore examples, input/output behaviour, patterns and limitations.
- AI Tools & Applications (7 classes): Choose appropriate tools and evaluate useful outputs.
- Prompt Engineering (9 classes): Write, test, compare and refine instructions.
- Generative AI (8 classes): Create and test AI-generated text and other content.
- AI Research & Reasoning (7 classes): Investigate questions with AI while checking claims and sources.
- Testing & Improving AI Solutions (9 classes): Create test cases, observe failures and improve usefulness.
What happens in a class?
These three steps guide every class. Classes do not follow an identical script or timing.
- Hear a challenge. The teacher introduces a story, game, question or everyday situation to explore.
- Have a go. Children actively take part: thinking, choosing, speaking, drawing, building, asking questions or solving problems.
- Try and improve. The teacher adds a new detail, challenge or point of view. Children use feedback, rethink their ideas and try another approach.
Example activity
The situation: The teacher shows two answers to the same question, one correct and one that sounds right but has a mistake.
What children do: Children work out which answer to trust and look for the evidence.
How they work together: They share what they found with the group and agree on how to check an answer.
What changes: The teacher changes the question slightly, and the answer changes too. Children see how the instructions affect the result.
Skill practised: Checking information and giving clear instructions.
Where it helps: Checking what a search or a chatbot says before using it.
How learning connects to everyday life
A real-life moment: Your child asks a chatbot a question for a school project and copies the answer.
Using the skill: They can check the answer against another source and ask the chatbot to explain how it knows.
A question to ask at home: “How could we check if that’s correct?”
Progress through practice
Over the 48 classes, children keep coming back to the same skills in new situations.
- Explore new situations.
- Practise important skills again and again.
- Meet different challenges.
- Try again with feedback.
- Build independence through practice.
- Discover where those skills can help in real life.
