Ball Action Words: A Fun Learning Activity for Kids

By Nurche Team · 12 October 2026

Children learn new words and concepts best when they can see, move, and experience them. The Ball Action Words activity helps children aged 3–5 practise action words while developing memory, sequencing, listening, and coordination through play.

How to Play

All you need is a soft ball or a loosely crumpled paper ball and a little space.

- Roll: Roll the ball slowly and say, “The ball rolls.”
- Toss: Gently toss the ball a short distance and say, “The ball goes up.”
- Drop: Let the ball fall and describe the action.
- Stop: Take turns rolling and stopping the ball.

Give your child simple choices, such as “Should we roll it or toss it?” Let them choose, take turns, and demonstrate an action when you name it.

What Does Your Child Learn?

This simple activity helps children practise action words, follow instructions, remember actions, and understand the order in which things happen. It also encourages movement, turn-taking, and independent choices.
